Gall Force

big-gall-force-eternal-story-ostA buddy of mine goes around looking for cool VHS’s at garage sales. He ran across Gall Force, Gundam movies and an assortment of 80’s sci-fi anime. Me being the anime nerd that I am, decided to get very stoned and watch this anime. It was Saturday night and I truly had nothing else to do. It was all in Japanese subtitles, which is awesome because that captures the true feel of the show. The VHS quality gave it alot of vintage charm. I honestly don’t remember much of the story but it was so cool to watch. It was so cool in fact, we jammed out to the OST through out the movie. We loved it.

This song is actually in the MSX game that was released along with this OVA. If you like classic shooters check it out. I wasn’t a big fan however

I’m going to revisit this show and check out some of the other episodes in the series.

Cool Anime Intros: Speed Grapher

This is one gnarly show. From the twisted BDSM clubs to the nymphomaniacs, this is one cool show. The Japanese version of this anime uses Duran Duran’s Girls on Film Song. Due to licensing issues the song didn’t make it on any American release or broadcast. I own the American DVD. I was bummed to find out not even the Japanese subtitles had the song. Nonetheless check it out.

Cool DJ Sets: SAT PM Cartoons Late Night Hip-Hop Mix

This is a DJ set I put together under the influence of mushrooms and cannibus about a year ago. It’s a mix of alternative hip-hop, wave and instrumentals. There’s also alot of samples from different anime and cartoon shows to give it a real adult swim feel. Peep it

Air Master Episodes 1-5 Review

Air Master is a 27 episode anime based off the manga by the same name which ran for nearly 10 years. This anime has a real early 2000’s feel to it. The animation is done really well. The show reminds me of Tenjho Tenge. There’s alot of random rights and ridiculous fan service. But, I’m always a sucker for fan service.

airmaster10

The plot is rather simple. Ex-gymnast becomes a well renown street fighter. The story revolves around Maki Aikawa, also known as the Air Master, and her three friends. The friend in particular that sticks out is Mina Nakanotani. A shy girl from a rich family that attends a private school. Her breast are insanely huge and are the punchline to much of the fan service parts here and there. She is also madly in love with Maki which makes for a lot more fan service. It is quite funny actually.

airmaster3 The first couple of episode introduce you to who Maki is as a street fighter and what her abilities are. You don’t find out much about her within the first few episodes. One thing I kinda didn’t like about this anime was how random the fights are and how people fight for stupid reasons. I cant blame the show too much for it is very entertaining. The main character is really sexy.

airmaster7

The action in this show is awesome the fights are captured nicely and they’re not too predictable. I gotta say though, Maki does look pretty sexy kicking ass.

airmaster9

I really like this show so far. The story really hasn’t drawn me in but I like the characters.

7.9/10

+’s – Interesting characters, great animation, awesome fight scenes, fan service.

-‘s – Plot seems very dull.

Ghost in A Shell Arise Crossover Trailer

Ghost in a Shell has always been one of my favorite animes. Not only do you have, great animation, awesome scenery, action and insane technology. The protagonist is sexy as hell. She can kick your ass too. “I love the kind of woman who could kick my ass” – Spike Speigel. The creators of the series have teamed up with Microsoft for their ad campaign. The commerical advertisises for the new Ghost in a Shell series along with a new Microsoft tablet device. Catch the full article here.

Portable Rock – ピクニック (Picnic)

I don’t know much about this band Portable Rock but I love the cold feel to it. It reminds me alot of Miharu Koshi or some 1980’s anime theme song intro. This is Noki Nomiya’s earliest work. This is a great song to hear in the morning. Or pack a bowl to. LOL I think this song came out sometime around 1989. I wish I could find the album. I’ll be on the hunt til then. You can download the song here.
